Job Description

We are seeking an Automation Engineering Engineer to join a client in Fort Worth. This is a full-time, direct hire position. The role is 100% onsite.

The Automation Engineer is responsible for the introduction, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of automated equipment and systems used in electronics manufacturing. This role focuses on maximizing equipment uptime, reliability, and performance to support production, quality, and operational objectives.

The Automation Engineer works cross-functionally with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Quality, equipment vendors, and other technical teams to introduce new automation technologies, improve equipment performance, support production changes, and drive continuous improvement in a safe and efficient manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the installation, relocation, commissioning, qualification, and integration of automation equipment, vision inspection systems, robotics, and related technologies for new and existing production lines.
  • Lead equipment calibration, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and troubleshooting activities to ensure equipment reliability and production readiness.
  • Troubleshoot automation and equipment issues involving PLCs, sensors, motors, conveyors, pneumatic systems, vision systems, and related controls.
  • Perform Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions using PDCA and other structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Quality, equipment vendors, and suppliers to improve equipment performance, reliability, cycle time, and overall production efficiency.
  • Support production line changes, equipment upgrades, tooling modifications, and process optimization initiatives.
  • Develop and implement maintenance best practices designed to reduce unplanned downtime and improve equipment availability.
  • Support the introduction and evaluation of new automation technologies and equipment for electronics manufacturing applications.
  • Maintain appropriate equipment, maintenance, troubleshooting, and technical documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in automation engineering, automated equipment implementation, equipment maintenance, or a similar manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, industrial automation, robotics, machine vision systems, and automated production equipment.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting PLCs, sensors, motors, conveyors, pneumatic systems, and industrial automation equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and equipment documentation.
  • Experience with SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD, or similar CAD software preferred.
  • Experience performing structured root-cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Strong project coordination, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Experience with CMMS platforms and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
